The COVID-19 virus is having a big impact on businesses and nonprofits in our community and Pixie is no different. Even though our shelter is closed to the public, our everyday duties and expenses haven’t slowed down. We’ve been getting questions from our amazing community on how people can help our animals—below are some ideas!

**We currently have enough foster homes for both dogs and cats! When that changes (kitten season will be here before we know it), we will post an update! ** Volunteer orientation, training, and on-boarding are also on hold for the time being.**

How to Help!
Make a Donation:
Requests for help are not slowing down. As people’s work hours are reduced, we’re already seeing more need for pet food, veterinary care, transfers from other shelters, and owner surrenders. If you’re able, making a one-time gift or becoming a monthly donor is the quickest way to help us help our community. You can donate directly through HERE.

Grab a Wish List Item (or shop through Amazon Smile): You can check out our Wish List full of items we use every day HERE.   Items are shipped from Amazon directly to Pixie. If you’re shopping for your family through Amazon, consider using the Amazon Smile program: it’s the same website and products, but by visiting smile.amazon.com instead, .5% of your total purchase amount is donated to Pixie. THIS LINK will designate Pixie as your charity automatically.

Support Local Restaurants…And Pixie! For our fall Pixie Party fundraiser, restaurant gift certificates are always our best sellers, often going for over their value in our silent auction! Since our local restaurants need your support too, consider buying a gift certificate and donating it to Pixie for our fall auction! Your favorite restaurants get the cash they need and donations to Pixie are tax deductible. It’s a chance to make a big impact with one purchase.

Share Pixie Posts: With the shelter being closed to the public, our pets could use a little extra visibility. Consider sharing posts on your timeline to let people know that we still have amazing animals looking for homes!

Thank you everyone for all of your help—and we’ll update you as soon as we have any new information. We’ll get through this together!

Roses are Red and so am I! Valentine’s day may be over, but it’s never too late to add some shades of Red to your life. I am a 8 year old Min Pin weighing around 16 lbs with an adorable floppy-upright ear situation going on. It’s quite goofy, but matches my silly personality! I am a very sensitive and mellow gent with a love of sunbathing and walks around the block. But boy do I get excited when I get to meet new four legged friends! In fact, my foster says I am one of the only smalls that will play with the big doggies in the home. I get so wiggly and flirty with the cutest play bow that entices everyone to join in the fun! I have even met the resident cats and would be fine sharing a home with a dog savvy cat. It can take a second to warm up to my human friends though, so someone who is patient and can let me blossom on my own time. After a long day of play, I voluntarily take my pre-dinner nap in my crate before scarfing down my yummy supper. I am a fairly independent guy and not a huge fan of cuddles, but will let you know when I am ready for snuggles. Being an older gent, I would love to retire to an adult only owned home, but would be happy to be joined by some furry siblings. Cute, funny, and a sensitive soul, you don’t need an arrow from cupid to fall in love with me! Fill out an application today and we can set up a meet. I come to you vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered with an adoption fee of $350.

“I can show you the world…shining, shimmering, splendid!” Just hop on my magic carpet and let our adventures begin. My name is Aladdin and I am hilarious and handsome 9 yo Shih Tzu/ terrier mix weighing around 12lbs. Just like my Disney counterpart, I am friendly and happy go lucky guy with a big heart! You can’t really tell in my pictures, but I don’t have the best vision. My hair was so matted that I couldn’t see for so long and it caused me to have some chronic dry eye in which I will need lifelong eye drops. But wonderful people were able to get me all groomed up and looking  snazzy. From Aladdin to Prince Ali! A classic diamond in the rough! I wasn’t a fan of the eye drops at first, but with some tasty hotdogs and some patience, I am getting the hang of it! I am also starting to go on more walks now that the sun is starting to peek out. The volunteers say that sometimes I randomly stop, but they just pick me up and set me back down, and then it’s back to it! I have met some doggy friends and I am very tolerant, but I would prefer to be your one and only.  Overall, I am very outgoing with my human pals, but with my limited vision, I would do best in an adult only home. I found the magic lamp and am ready to make my final wish: I wish for my forever family! Fill out an application and we can set up a meet. I come to you vaccinated, micro-chipped, and neutered with a recent dental and adoption fee of $350.

Oh sweet mercy! Look at that handsome pup Percy! At 2 years old and around 30 lbs, I am a spry scruffy Terrier who is ready to play play play! I have that classic terrier energy and am always on the go, whether it’s playing with my dog friends or exploring the great outdoors. I’m still new to a harness and have a tendency to pull, but I respond well to tasty treats, so I’m learning quickly! Always excitable and full of fun, I am very puppy like when I first meet a new doggy. I just want to romp around so badly! But not every pup enjoys that, so I would need an adult dog sibling in the home who has the energy to keep up with me but who also can teach me some manners. Don’t worry, I’m not bouncing of the walls all day! Once we go for a walk or play some fetch, I am always down for some pets and skritches. Since I can be a bit bouncy, I would do best in a home without kitties and with kiddos 12 and up. Scruffy, adorable, hilarious, and full of spunk, I am ready to get started on our adventures today! Fill out an application to set up a meet. I come to you neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped with an adoption fee of $350.

Hi! My name is Suki. Heard of me before? Back in my Instagram famous days, I was quite the lady’s man. Still am too! At 9 years young, my funny Chihuahua underbite is quick to draw attention but it’s my personality is what people really adore! I am modest fellow that can take a second to warm up, but once I do, I am a total ham. I have always been around small pups like me and don’t mind them. Especially if they are mellow like me! Even dog savvy cats can join my crew. After a life of adventure, I am ready to settle down into a quiet adult only home. I am not much of a walker and would enjoy a nice yard to meander in on those sunny summer days. Silly, mellow, and sometimes aloof, I am a charming and goofy guy ready to share my love with you today! Fill out an application, so we can meet. I come to you vaccinated, micro-chipped, and neutered with an up to date dental and an adoption fee of $350.

Hi. I’m Jake! Jake the dog. Jake the adorable and hilarious wonderdog. What kind of dog you ask? Well, as you can see, I am a handsome Doxie mix of some sort! At 8 years old and 20 lbs, I am a plushy and lovable guy with a big heart. Though it takes me a second to warm up, all you have to do is break out the squeaky toys or some yummy hotdogs, and I quickly blossom! Speaking of toys, I just love playing fetch! I am still learning the drop it part, but the Pixie gals are teaching me all about it. They say I am a sharp cookie who is a quick learner. I am pretty food motivated of course, so it makes it that much easier—and more fun! I do enjoy my walks with the volunteers, though the traffic downtown can still be a little much for me. Thus, I would do best in an adult only owned home in a lower traffic area. I was with a single owner all my life and she unfortunately passed away, so I am really looking to be someone’s special companion again! I met the office kitty at Pixie and was very appropriate, so a dog savvy cat in the home would be just fine. Since I haven’t been around a lot of doggies, I like being your shining star and only dog in the home. Silly, cute, and eager to bond, I am ready to meet my new family today! Fill out an application today and we can set up a meet. I come to you vaccinated, micro-chipped, and neutered with an adoption fee of $350.

Hello friend! My name is Sampson and I am a happy and hefty 5 yo Pit mix weighing 75lbs. I am a mellow guy with a big heart full of love to share with my new family! Though I am a big guy, I have a sensitive soul and sometimes can even be a little bit of a ninny meeting new pups. I have lived with a confident doggy in the past and we had a leader-follower thing going on which helped me build my confidence! I would be happy to enter the same set up with an older mellow and confident female. Or I would happy to be your only companion as well! No kitties in my home please. I am very people oriented more than anything and overall am just a great companion for my human pals over 10. Though I am more of a couch potato, I still like to occasionally play with my favorite squeaky toys. I would need and thrive in an owned home in a quiet area. I do have some food allergies that require me to be on a specific prescription food. For more info, please email Pixie! I love to give slobbery kisses and cuddles, and am eager to please. And I am so so ready to be with my forever people today! Fill out an application, so we can set up a meet. I come to you vaccinated, micro-chipped, and neutered with an adoption fee of $350.
