Our re-launch party was a huge success! A big, boisterous thank you to everyone who was able to drop by the party and make the night one to remember!
Now that the Pixie Project is officially re-opened please feel free to come by, say “hello,” and give our cattery kitties some love. It will be a bit longer before our dogs are available, as we are waiting on some finishing touches to our kennels (can’t have them live without their salon and jacuzzi!). We will update this website as soon as we start intaking dogs again, so keep checking back. If you are interested in fostering or volunteering, please shoot us an email at info@pixieproject.org as we are getting back on track to organizing those programs.
The expansion remodel has finally arrived! We are all very excited to transform our space and house more animals than ever before!
We will be officially closed to start the transition starting Friday June 29. Our estimated time of construction is two months and we are re-opening in September. Please note that Pixie staff will continue to check emails and voicemails as usual during the summer and will continue to adopt out animals currently in our care.
Everyone have a safe and wonderful summer. Thank you for all of your support!
Thank you to everyone for the phenomenal support we received on marketing the “Fight Club” Yin-Yang table! The table sold for a whopping $4351 which will go a long way in helping us expand and reach out to more animals.
The wonderful Dominguez family, winners of the auction, drove up from California to collect the table and meet Chuck Palahniuk in person.
Hey ‘œFight Club’ fans! Get a special piece of movie memorabilia and help save some animals! Chuck Palahniuk, acclaimed author of cult classics such as ‘œFight Club’ and ‘œChoke’ recently donated a special piece of ‘œFight Club’ history to help raise funds for Pixie Project’s upcoming shelter expansion!
Watch the video of Pixie Project Executive Director Amy Sacks and Chuck Palahniuk discussing the history of this very special piece! HERE
This unique and very cool is available now on eBay. See the description below and be prepared to bid! BID NOW!
This is the Furni Fruktbar table from the apartment scene in the movie Fight Club, staring Edward Norton and Brad Pitt. It is the actual table that was used in the film, and was custom made to look like a Faux-Ikea table.
This Ying-Yang table was given to Chuck Palahniuk (author of Fight Club) by David Fincher (director of Fight Club). The bottom is signed by Chuck with a brief history of the table. It reads:
“This table was custom made in 1998 for the film ‘Fight Club.’ In 1999 the film’s director, David Fincher, sent it to me as a gift. I used it in my home until 2011, when I donated it to an auction to fund the ‘Pixie Project’, a dog rescue organization.”
The coffee table is approximately 3.5 feet wide and stands 1.5 feet tall. It has a glass top and bottom and is built very solid.
All proceeds from this auction will help fund the Pixie Project, the dog rescue organization located in Portland, OR. Local (PDX) winners will have the opportunity to meet Chuck and have him explain how to put the table together.
SPECIAL NOTE: If the winner picks up the table (in Portland, OR) Chuck Palahniuk is willing to meet you to show you how to set it up! Don’t miss out on this special opportunity to help rescue cats and dogs AND meet Chuck in person!
That’s right! After 5 years and more than 1,500 happy adoptions, the Pixie Project is ready to take it to the next level! In July of 2012 the Pixie Project will be tripling the size of our adoption facility!
This will allow us to house ten times more dogs and give our surrounding over crowded shelters the much-needed support they deserve. Our new adoption area will feature 20 new dog runs, a puppy ward, and of course communal exercise areas for our adoptable pooches to frolic and play. Once our expansion has been completed the Pixie Project’s goal will be to place 1,000 adoptable animals per year into new forever homes!
Most recently we have made the decision to really take it to the next level by having our very own clinic here at the Pixie Project! This will allow us to not only vet all of our own Pixie dogs and cats on site but also hugely expand our low cost and free spay and neuter and veterinary service programs for the pets of Portland’s low-income and homeless communities.
Are you interested in helping with our expansion?
Starting this summer volunteers with experience in carpentry, cleaning and organization will be needed to help us make this change quickly and with as few expenses as possible.
Financial donations are always greatly appreciated and will help us with the costs of our kennels and other building preparations. Please visit our “donate” section to make a tax deductible donation.
Thank you to our amazing community of donors, volunteers, adopters, fosters and friends for the support and kindness you have shown us over the last 5 years.
Welcome to our brand new site! Hooray! We are still working out a few things and getting all the posts updated, but we hope you’ll find this new site more friendly and fun to use. There is more in store, including lots more adorable photos, so stay tuned. And thank you for all your support!
