With the COVID-19 situation continuing to advance and evolve, we wanted to give an update about measures that we’re taking to ensure the health and well-being of Pixie’s people and animals.

We are monitoring updates and recommendations from the CDC, WHO, and local authorities and are prepared to enact changes to our operations as necessary. For the time being, the shelter is operating normally. Should we decide to close the shelter to the public, rest assured that all animals in our care will continue to have their needs met by shelter staff and foster caregivers. In addition to our standard hygiene and daily sanitization measures, we are sanitizing doorknobs and other surfaces in our facility that are frequently touched.

Staff and volunteers have been instructed not to come in if they are feeling ill or know that they have been exposed to COVID-19. We do ask that visitors, volunteers, and potential adopters delay their visit to the shelter if they aren’t feeling well in order to reduce the risk of spreading illness to others.

While current evidence overwhelmingly suggests that companion animals are unlikely to become infected by COVID-19, this is a good opportunity to review your pets’ role in your general disaster preparedness plan. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that pet owners keep on hand the following:
*A two-week supply of food and water for each pet in your care.
*A two-week supply of each pet’s medications.
*A file that contains each pet’s care plan, vaccination and ownership records, microchip information, and a preferred contact in case of emergency.

We hope that all humans and animals in the Pixie community stay safe and healthy during this time, and we will continue to provide updates as the situation develops.

Roses are Red and so am I! Valentine’s day may be over, but it’s never too late to add some shades of Red to your life. I am a 8 year old Min Pin weighing around 16 lbs with an adorable floppy-upright ear situation going on. It’s quite goofy, but matches my silly personality! I am a very sensitive and mellow gent with a love of sunbathing and walks around the block. But boy do I get excited when I get to meet new four legged friends! In fact, my foster says I am one of the only smalls that will play with the big doggies in the home. I get so wiggly and flirty with the cutest play bow that entices everyone to join in the fun! I have even met the resident cats and would be fine sharing a home with a dog savvy cat. It can take a second to warm up to my human friends though, so someone who is patient and can let me blossom on my own time. After a long day of play, I voluntarily take my pre-dinner nap in my crate before scarfing down my yummy supper. I am a fairly independent guy and not a huge fan of cuddles, but will let you know when I am ready for snuggles. Being an older gent, I would love to retire to an adult only owned home, but would be happy to be joined by some furry siblings. Cute, funny, and a sensitive soul, you don’t need an arrow from cupid to fall in love with me! Fill out an application today and we can set up a meet. I come to you vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered with an adoption fee of $350.

*THIS DOG IS NOT BEING RE-HOMED THROUGH THE PIXIE PROJECT. THIS IS A COURTESY POST ONLY; PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL KATIE AT THE CONTACT INFO BELOW FOR MORE DETAILS*

My name is Ozzy and I am a handsome 1 year old, 12lb, Chihuahua/Terrier mix with a loving personality. I’m a social butterfly with my human friends, and a spunky playmate with other dogs. I love learning new tricks, morning naps, playing with toys, and heading to the dog park for exercise. I’m great with adults, but children are a bit too unpredictable for me. I would do well in a quiet, owned home with another calm dog friend. I’m not a fan of super long work days and would love a doggy friend to keep me company, and someone who is patient and can help build my confidence of being home alone. My dog-parents would help by developing leave-training habits as I deal with separation anxiety. Being smart and food motivated has helped me learn many basic commands, and will help with coping mechanisms. If you’re interested, contact my owner to set up a meet. I come to you vaccinated, micro-chipped, and spayed with an adoption fee of $350.

–THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING; THIS CAT IS NOT BEING HOMED THROUGH THE PIXIE PROJECT. FOR MORE INFO ABOUT LUNA, PLEASE CONTACT SAM AT THE PHONE/EMAIL BELOW–

Hi I’m Luna! I’m 4 1/2 years old, and I’m a spunky little lady. As a Lilac Point Siamese, I’m full of energy and enjoy playful conversation with my humans. For exercise I like to play with toys and climb as high as I can in my cat tree. I’m a very good hunter as well! Sitting by a big open window watching birds, and catching sun beams is a favorite past time of mine. I keep myself and my home tidy, and have impeccable bathroom habits. I feel my best when I can interact with my humans, and receive enough mental and physical activity throughout the day.

My ideal home is somewhere quiet and mellow with lots of space to run around, and big windows to gaze out of. I’m a bit sensitive to loud noises and lots of strangers, so having my own safe space is helpful in those situations. I prefer to be the only pet in the home, and with adults only, who have previous cat experience. So far in my life I’ve only been indoors, however, I would probably enjoy the option of exploring outside on a secure leash – at my own pace of course! I can take some time to warm up to new people and environments, but once I do, I’m very affectionate and love to cuddle. One thing I like the most is having consistent routines. I don’t mind watching the house during the workday, but being alone for an extended period of time, such as a few days, makes me worried and stressed. I feel most comfortable when someone I trust is home regularly. I am up to date on all my vaccines, micro-chipped and recently checked out as a healthy, chubby girl at my last vet appointment.

–THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING; CAT IS NOT BEING HOMED THROUGH THE PIXIE PROJECT. FOR MORE INFO ON LUNA, PLEASE CONTACT EMILY AT THE PHONE/EMAIL BELOW–

We are looking for a new loving home for our sweet cat, Luna. We think she’s about 9 years old and is mostly indoors. We have had her for two years and our friends had her for about five before that. When she came to us, she was coming from a pretty stressful environment due to the other pets around (pooping outside litter box), but it was always a temporary situation to see if her behavior would change. After a combination of many things, I’m happy to say that she has since blossomed into a playful, sweet, friendly kitty. She still does have accidents which is why we are rehoming her since we have a baby on the verge of crawling. That said, she would do best as a solo pet with a person who can give her all the love and attention she wants because, truly, we think that is why she is not making it to the litter box every time.  She loves to be brushed and pet and to sit on laps but does not enjoy being picked up. She is up to date on vaccines and flea meds. She would be a wonderful animal for anyone who wants a little feline friend 🙂

Buongiorno! Aren’t I one handsome Italian Stallion?! My name is Stefano and an itty bitty 3 month old Italian Greyhound pup! Just like most young pups, I am a happy go lucky guy ready to explore the world and learn all about it. I am always eager to meet everyone I come across, from my human pals, other pups, and those kitties too! I will need a patient home who will be dedicated to my training and socialization, and someone who isn’t gone super long work hours, so I can get this potty training thing down. PUPPY CLASSES ARE MANDATORY FOR MY ADOPTION! Being full of energy, I am always down for some play time with my favorite toys or running around the play yard. I am pretty darn fast already! But after a long day of play, it’s time for some snuggles while I smother you in kisses full of puppy breath! I am so excited to find my family and do all the things: eat lots of spaghetti, go for a gondola ride together, and heck I am even small enough to fit in your Vespa sidecar so we can explore the world together! Fill out an application today and we can set up a meet! I come to you neutered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated with an adoption fee of $450.

–THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING; THIS CAT IS NOT BEING HOMED THROUGH THE PIXIE PROJECT. FOR MORE INFO ON SKITTLES, PLEASE CONTACT RYAN AT THE PHONE NUMBER BELOW–

We are looking to re-home our kitty Skittles, because we are moving to another country. She’s a 5 year old tabby that came to our porch about 3 years ago, we fed her, and she’s been living with us since.

Skittles spends about 50/50 time outside and inside. She has not been declawed, is spayed, is chipped, has had vaccinations, does not have FIV, and is litterbox trained. She likes to go on family walks with my wife and 18 month old daughter, and will follow us up to about 8 blocks before heading back home. She’s an independent kitty, but is cuddly in the evenings after a long day of play outside. Once she warms up to you, she’ll let you rub her belly. She doesn’t love children, but is tolerant of them until they get too close, and then she’ll run away. She is not friendly with other animals.

Our family loves Skittles and we’re gutted to leave her behind. We’re hoping someone can give her a loving home that enables her to live an adventurous outdoor life during the day and a cuddly life inside in the evenings.

Please text Ryan at 971-337-9949 if you are interested in giving Skittles a great home.
