**THIS IS A COURTESY POST. OPAL is NOT BEING RE-HOMED THROUGH THE PIXIE PROJECT. THIS IS A COURTESY POST ONLY; For more information, adoption@columbiahumane.org.

What is an Opal? In ancient times, this stone was believed to possess all the characteristics of all gemstones and is used because it represents hope, clarity, and truth. This little dog represents all of these things. Opal is approximately a  year old and weighs in right around 37lbs. This little girl loves to be around her people, and is known to do well with children.  She is dog social, however she does not like to share her people if she can help it. This girl is very well trained, she is a dream on and off leash, she recalls very well, knows how to sit, stay and lay down.

Her ideal home would be where she can be an only dog, spend a large amount of time with her people. Hang out on the couch, or go for trips. She really is up for anything as long as she gets to hang out with her people.

If you are interested in meeting her we ask that you please email adoption@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an application. Once you have an approved application on file we will then schedule a time for you to meet her.

You really ought to meet this little lady! This dappled dear, Oleta, is a 13 year old female. Oleta is small chihuahua mix and appreciate the cozy things in life, cream cheese, and socializing with her favorite people. She came to us with her brother, but we soon discovered they preferred to flourish on their own!

For her next era, Oleta would thrive in a house with doting adults, but no dogs or kids for this doll. She’ll join your crew vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and fresh breath for a total adoption fee of $400. If this lady matches your vibe, send a Dog Adoption Application our way to schedule a meet and greet!

Meet Bertha, the wiggliest, squiggliest puppy that’s ever been! She may only be eight weeks old and 12 pounds, but this female husky puppy is ready to grow up into an absolute gem of a medium to large breed lady with a family who will love her forever.

Because she’s a baby herself, for her next adventure in life Bertha would do best in a house (no apartments, please!) with dogs over two years old, children over the age of five, and could do well with cats. Puppy training classes are an absolute must for Bertha so that she can learn her puppy ABCs. If Bertha is the baby for you, fill out our Dog Adoption Application today to meet her! She’ll come to you vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed for an adoption fee of $550.

Just as a reminder, our shelter is closed to the public and does not review applications on Sundays or Mondays. Applications are reviewed from Tuesday-Saturday, which is when you can expect a response.

Meet Grayson, the gentlest giant in the land! This handsome guy is an eight-year-old, male, 128 pound Great Dane who will not only steal your heart, but help heal it as well. When Grayson lived on the East Coast he volunteered as a service dog in the cardiology unit of a local hospital, where he helped patients get up and moving after surgery (and provided some much-needed cuddles to boot).

Grayson’s previous owner loved him quite a bit, but they unfortunately passed away earlier this year and now Grayson is looking for a family with a heart as big as his. For his next adventure in life, Grayson would do well just about anywhere – whether that’s as the only dog in the household or with cats, dogs, or dog-savvy kids over the age of eight. If Grayson made your heart go pitter-patter, fill out our Dog Adoption Application today to meet the lovely lad! He’ll come to you vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered for an adoption fee of $350.

This little lady ready to rumble – meet Rue! She is a fully grown 5 year old terrier mix, weighing in at 25lbs. Truly a lovely little lady, Rue is ready to find her forever family. She thrives outdoors and loves to hang out with her human friends too, especially if they have cheddar cheese.

We picture an active home for Rue – she has the vibe of a terrier who wants to be your exploring buddy or work on puzzles together. She is even amenable to a puffer vest or raincoat when needed! Rue is a-okay with other dogs and calm cats, and could hold her own with kids over the age of 13 years old. If Rue is right up your alley, send a Dog Adoption Application our way to meet this gal. She’s ready to roll having been vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed for an adoption fee of $500.

Molto bellissime, what a lovely pair! Shrimps and Scampi are a bonded pair and are both female terrier mixes. At around eight-years-old, they have plenty of play energy to spend and love to fritter away the hours playing tug and eating cheese. They both have some funky legs (which is common in smaller breeds) and need to take some doggy pain medication, but other than that they’re raring and ready to romp!

For their next grand adventure, these two would do well in a home with cats or dogs, though they’d also be happy for it to just be you and them. If you have dog-savvy kids over 10, Shrimps and Scampi would love to meet them! To bring these guys into your life, fill out our Dog Adoption Application today! They’ll come to you spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated for an adoption fee of $500.

If you’ve been looking for a Valentine’s sweetheart, you’ve found your gal! This cutie patootie is an eight-month-old female pug mix who plans to remain on the smaller side of things. With her flippy fur and long lashes, she’s ready for a night on the town – especially if that night involves doggy daycare, because she still needs to work on her puppy ABC’s.

Valentina would do best in a house (no apartments, please!) and without cats. While she’d happily be the only dog for your heart, she’d also succeed if she moved in with a male dog who could show her the ropes of “how to dog.”

If seeing her picture struck you with Cupid’s arrow, fill out a Dog Adoption Application today! She’ll come to you spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated for an adoption fee of $600.
