This is Polar-Rat. PR for short. He is a loving, friendly cat who likes to be in the same room as people but also takes his own space. He is deaf which actually makes him pretty chill and super cute to wake up because he often looks surprised and then happy to see you. He is so patient, you can pet his paws, belly, tail, he just wants to be pet and doesn’t get mad. He has lived with many different cats, dogs, and people over the years. He travels incredibly well and has been on multiple road trips and on a plane! Upon meeting new animals, he has an adjustment period where he stands his ground at first when meeting a new animal (this looks like puffing, drive by hisses, and slow walking) but doesn’t take long to relax with support from owners. With other cats, he enjoys playing at times and other times just wants to sleep. He will even cuddle up with them if comfortable enough. With dogs, he wants his own space. With people he wants all the pets but will show this as walking back and forth past you and eventually laying on your lap when the conditions are calm. But he also loves to be riled up and play! One fun thing about him is if you put a blanket in a basket, you can carry him around in it and even bring him to your lap to pet him. He loves being in a basket!! Once you build a bond with him, you can place him on your lap and he will lay down. But he does not prefer to be carried around!
He LOVES being outdoors which is difficult in an urban setting. However if he had access to safe outdoors like an enclosed patio or balcony he could spend all day laying outside in the sunshine and looking around.
The ideal family would be one that has the capabilities of giving him time and attention, possibly another animal as he does get lonely, and potentially access to safe outdoor space. They are asking for a rehoming fee of $75.00 to ensure Polar going to a new home. The best way to reach Heather is via text at 323-533-9242.
