Hello! My name is Horton and I am a 10 year old Lhasa Apso. Can you guess what my favorite book is? It’s Horton Hears a Who, of course! Though I am not as big as my elephant counterpart, I do have a giant heart full of love to share with new friends. Not to mention my superb hearing which really comes in handy since I am slightly vision impaired. My foster thinks I might be able to see big movements or shadows, and can anticipate when a curb is coming but other than that, I rely on my other senses to really get the lay of the land. It can take me a second to get used to new environments, so having to move around a lot and get familiar with new places would be a bit difficult for me. Instead, I would be much happier staying in house setting without a ton of stairs (I can manage a few stops at a time), that I can live out the rest of my retirement years in. My lack of vision doesn’t really seem to slow me down when it comes to play. In fact, I absolutely love playing with my toys and bringing them around with me. Tennis balls seem to be my favorite, but the soft squeaky toys are fun too! I am a pretty great walker as well. When I was at Pixie, the staff said the first time they took me on a walk to the park up the street, as soon as I hit the grass, it was instant zoomies! I have always been in an environment with lots of other dogs and even a few kitties, so I am pretty easy going when it comes to having mellow fur siblings in my home. Because of my limited vision, a busy household with a lot of people in and out would not be ideal, and just be a bit overwhelming for me. But in a quiet setting, especially when there are some toys to play with, I easily open up to my human pals over 12. Watching me blossom puts so much joy in the people’s hearts around me, especially after being deprived of a lot of things first growing up. Thus, it’s the little things like the grass between my paws or a tiny who in whoville that I appreciate and enjoy the most. And I would so love to share these experiences with my forever companion today! Fill out an application, so we can set up a meet. I come to you vaccinated, neutered, and micro-chipped with recent bloodwork and a dental, with an adoption fee of $350.
