Aloha Portland, say hello to Malia who just arrived from the Hawaiian Island of Kaua`i! Malia is a 1-2 year old, 40 lb. whippet/pharaoh hound mix who will steal your heart. She loves the company of other dogs and does well with cats. Kids are her favorite type of human. Kaua`i Animal Welfare Society rescued Malia from the island’s high kill shelter where she was deemed ‘œtoo fearful’ to be considered for adoption. She immediately went into foster care where she became more trusting of humans and had a blast with her foster dog siblings. Today she is a much more confident dog who will come up to greet people once she feels comfortable with them. She is a talented athlete, and can clear a 4 foot fence as if she were a gazelle, so no low fences for this girl! Malia is an excellent running and hiking partner and would thrive as a member of an active family. She comes to you house trained, crate trained, spayed, micro-chipped, and up to date on her vaccinations. She attended 8 weeks of obedience training classes, and with a little reminder, she will remember her skills.
