He’d do really well in a home where he can luxuriate in his human’s presence, exercise moderately (game of fetch a day keeps the boy happy), and then rest his big ol’ head in your lap while you chill out on the couch.
He knows a lot of basic commands like sit, stay, chill (lay down), off, drop it, leave it, sit pretty. He is really well trained around food. He will sit looking at his human waiting patiently for meals and won’t eat the food set out before him until given the ok. You can take his bowl away mid meal and he’ll sit down and wait for you to give it back. He has no food or toy aggression/possessiveness.
He LOVES people. He does not currently live with children but has been around infants and toddlers at a daycare facility and has been around young children at a preschool.
He is, however, more selective when it comes to other dogs. He will react aggressively with some dogs at the park, especially if a dog tries to hump him. The reason he needs a new home is because he has twice injured the 8lb dog he lives with.
When he joined our family he came with a hip problem. He walks and runs fine, but will avoid putting too much weight on that leg. Too much running or hiking can irritate it, but he does need mild to moderate exercise to keep him happy.
He needs a home with a fenced yard. Adults and children over 10 years. No other animals in the home.
