Welcome to the Pixie Project! We are a non-profit animal adoption center and rescue located in the heart of Portland. We are here to make animal adoption and rescue a fun, family friendly and positive experience. The small but dedicated staff here at the Pixie Project are committed to the art of match making between pet and person and take a hands on personal approach to each and every adoption.

We are so committed to helping those great homes in search of the perfect rescue dog that many times our available animals don’t even make it up on the website because as soon as they come in we know just who would love them!

We ask that all those looking for animals honor the process and the that it might take a bit of time to find that perfect animal but it’s well worth it.

PLEASE DON’T BE DISCOURAGED if you don’t see a dog or cat that fits what you hope to find. Just come on down and fill out an application and talk with us today!

Ah, there you are, hello! So happy we will finally get to meet– I have a feeling we have been searching for each other for a long time! I am Cortez, the dashing 9 year old Vizsla/German Shepherd Dog mix of your dreams. I am good with other dogs, have sweet floppy velvety soft ears and a long wagging tail and I come microchipped, neutered, and current on all vaccines and my adoption fee is $250. No need for us to be ships passing in the night anymore, let your heart set sail on the Sea of Cortez today! Just fill out an application at to schedule a meet. I can hardly wait!

I heard you have a thing for The King– well you’re in luck because baby here I am! And I’m not your average “Nothin but a Hound Dog” type guy, I’m actually a Rottie mix– I certainly am a “Big Hunk o’ Love” though, weighing in at 116lbs and 6 years old. Don’t let my size mislead you though, I am great with other dogs, and wonderful with little kids! This King has a bit of healing to do after triumphing over an infection, so there may be some medical care and special dietary needs required in the beginning of what’s sure to be a lasting love between us. Just be sure to “Love Me Tender” and “I’ll Be Your Teddy Bear”  for life. I come microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines and my adoption fee is $250. Just fill out an application at so we can get a meet and greet plan in motion!

Loveable, mature cat.   Very easy to take care of.  Likes to explore, but moves around slowly and doesn’t get very far.  Enjoys sitting in your lap or cuddling up next to you on the bed, couch, etc. and could sit there with you for hours.  Because of his disability, he gets around better on carpet than hardwood floors.  He is able to get down from the bed or couch on his own, but isn’t able to jump up to places.  Uses the litterbox fine and also has a good appetite.  Is curious and inter-acts with our other cats well.
