In addition to providing amazing adoption services, The Pixie Project runs a low-cost veterinary clinic. The Scott Wainner Pixie Care Clinic offers low income and homeless pet owners access to vital veterinary care.

Keeping Pets and People Together!

Over the last year, the Pixie Project has increased the number of surgeries performed by more than 5 times. A skilled team of high-volume veterinarians and vet techs can now perform twenty surgeries during our once-a-week surgery day. These surgeries are a combination of spay/neuter and emergency services, including dental extractions, amputations, mass removals, and other life-saving surgeries.

Our goal is not only to prevent overpopulation through easy access to spay/neuter surgeries, but to keep beloved pets in their existing homes. When pet owners fall on hard times (including, in many cases, seniors living on social security) they may not be able to afford a necessary surgery at a traditional vet, forcing them to surrender their beloved companion to already over-full shelters or consider euthanasia. Many of these animals are seniors themselves who have very limited adoption opportunities. Pixie is able to help keep these owners and pets together by performing affordable surgeries and assisting with medications.

The Pixie Project is a non-profit animal adoption center and rescue located in the heart of Portland, Oregon.

At Pixie, we make animal adoption and rescue a fun, family friendly, and positive experience. Our small but dedicated staff is committed to the art of match-making and takes a hands-on, personal approach to each and every adoption.

Pixie is committed to keeping pets healthy, happy, and in their homes for life. Our on-site clinic provides low-cost spay/neuter services and veterinary care, keeping pets out of shelters and saving lives.

Our philosophy at Pixie is simple and unique: find the perfect pet for each person or family. At Pixie we’re not about getting animals out the door, we’re about getting pets into lifetime homes. Sometimes the “right” pet is waiting for you, and other times we may have to search for a while before your canine or feline soul-mate arrives. We promise, it will be worth the wait!

Rags

Once upon there was a beautiful princess named Rags.  She was beloved by all who knew her as she was the kindest Shih Tzu in all the land.  Then one day Rags got too far from home!  Her hair grew out and you could barely recognize her, but she remained friendly and sweet. She found her way to The Pixie Project where she was groomed and pampered.  They all exclaimed how amazing she was! Perfect manners, perfect with other dogs and a perfect companion for any family. Now at 9 years young Rags awaits the rest of her story.   Are you the one to turns Rags into riches?  Can you be her happy ending?  Send in your adoption application so the rest of the story can unfold!  Rags is fixed, chipped and vaccinated.  Her adoption fee is $180.

Bear

Hello everyone!  My name is Bear and I am a thoughtful, sensitive and sweet 1 year old, 40 lb Lab mix looking for a loving home all my own! I often spend my time contemplating the existence of wormholes and disruptions in the space/time continuum and I find that my many attempts at acquiring a level 10 mage in World of Warcraft have gone largely awry.  That is to say, I am very smart and need work with socialization!

I’m looking for a tender hearted human to help me with my self esteem, and having a doggy sibling will help a lot too because I LOVE other animals.  I play super well with dogs and can live comfortably with kitties too.  I am 100% house trained.  I know I will blossom into a very loyal companion that will make you laugh and make you think.  Do I sound like the perfect fit for your family? Fill out an adoption application so we can schedule a meet and greet!  I am fixed, vaccinated and microchipped.  My adoption fee is $250.

King Tut 1

Greetings gentle people of Portland (and the surrounding areas) I am King Tut the new ruler of your heart!  With my adorable little face and your positive guidance we will make an excellent team to spread happiness and joy across this land.  I am a 3 month old Mexican Hairless and even though I sometimes think I know enough to make my own rules (like staying up past 10 pm on a school night) it’s clear that I have a lot to learn and puppy classes are mandatory with my adoption.  I get a long great with all people and other animals.  Are you ready to make my acquaintance? Fill out an adoption application and send it in so we can schedule a meet and greet. I am fixed, vaccinated (except rabies), and microchipped.  My adoption fee is $450.  I am currently in foster care.
