The Pixie Project is a non-profit animal adoption center and rescue located in the heart of Portland, Oregon.

At Pixie, we make animal adoption and rescue a fun, family friendly, and positive experience. Our dedicated staff focuses on finding life-long matches between pet and adopter and takes a hands-on, personal approach to each and every adoption.

Pixie is committed to keeping pets healthy, happy, and in their homes for life. Our on-site clinic offers low-income and homeless pet owners access to vital veterinary care and low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, keeping pets out of shelters and saving lives.

Our philosophy at Pixie is simple and unique: find the perfect pet for each person or family. At Pixie we’re not about getting animals out the door, we’re about getting pets into lifetime homes. Sometimes the “right” pet is waiting for you, and other times you may have to search for a while before your canine or feline soul-mate arrives. We promise, it will be worth the wait!

Duke-TX-1

Hello there! My name is Duke and I am an adorable one year old Chihuahua mix. I may only weigh 17 pounds, but man do I have a BIG heart! I just love to be loved! The city is so new and scary to me and I would do best in a quieter environment and away from all the hustle and bustle of downtown. Oh and somewhere near lots of grass too! For I just love rolling around in it! It my favorite thing to do, besides getting all of your love of course. I cannot wait to be touched! So much so that as soon as you stop petting me, I will worm my way right into your arms again! I enjoy everyone I meet, including other dogs, cats, and kids too! Care to roll in the hay with me? Then fill out an application today and we can meet! I come to you neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped with an adoption fee of $250.

Chloe-old-lab-mix-1

Good afternoon! My name is Chloe and I am a sophisticated and very sweet 9 year old Shepherd/ Lab mix. I am an older lady who loves walks in the great outdoors as I have spent most of my life outside. Thus, I am not used to all this city life and I would enjoy a nice quiet home where we can have tea parties and discuss what flowers to plant in our garden! I don’t mind having another dog around, but am a bit of a flirt and would rather be with a nice fellow than a bunch of ladies. I would need to be in a home with older kids and no cats. I maybe a little shy at first, but with a few treats and some patience, I will quickly warm up to you! Care to join me for some tea? Then fill out an application today, so we can meet! I come to you spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped with an adoption fee of $250.

Buster-TX-1

Hi everyone! My name is Buster and I am just handsome 7.5 month old 30 lb terrier mix looking for some love! My hobbies include playing ball, playing with squeaker toys, and most of all-playing on your heartstrings when I snuggle up next to you for some cuddle time. Since I am still a young lad, I will need someone who is confident and  has the time and patience to work on the training basics, as PUPPY CLASSES ARE MANDATORY FOR MY ADOPTION.  Because of my young wiggles, I need to be in a home with kids ages 10 and up and no cats. But I enjoy playing with my new dog pals here at Pixie, but my play style can be a bit confusing to other dogs, so another confident dog in the household that likes to play the same way I do would be just fine! I do have some social sensitivities that require me to be in a quiet low-key home that is owned by my adopters. A big backyard would be even better!! If you love to play as much as I do, but also love some snuggle time on the side, then fill out an application today so we can meet! I come to you vaccinated, neutered, and micro-chipped with an adoption fee of $250.

Dani-California-1

Hi everyone! My name is Dani California and I am a cute and affectionate 2 year old Chihuahua mix. I have had rough past where I came from in California, but have quite the survivor story! I am recovering remarkably well and nothing can bring me down! I am fun and playful, but also enjoy some nice snuggle time as well. Even though I am a tad shy when in a new surrounding, I have learned to trust people again and know now that I will always be safe from harm. I love playing with my new doggy pals here at Pixie! I am ok with kids and those furry cats as well. I do need a surgery on one of my legs, but with Pixie helping by covering the fees and getting me all patched up, I will be on the road to recovery in no time!  Do you want to add a little spunk in your life? Then fill out an application today, so we can meet! I come to vaccinated, spayed, and micro-chipped with an application fee of $250. I

k2 kobe-THESE CATS ARE NOT BEING HOMED THROUGH THE PIXIE PROJECT. THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING; PLEASE CONTACT AMANDA AT THE EMAIL BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION-

Two adult male cats, free to a good home. Both neutered. Grey cat is 11 yrs old, and the tabby is 12 yrs old. Both litter trained and never go outside the box. Very clean cats. Both VERY affectionate lap cats that need an owner with a lot of love and affection to give. They may be older, but they still have a lot of life. Very playful. They never hiss, even when kids are pestering them. They are fine around dogs (though they tend to keep their distance), but they have never been around another cat. They’re both very easy going though, so I’m guessing they would be fine with another cat. They have moved quite a few times and have always adjusted well.
I think they would benefit most by staying together (they’ve always been together), but if that isn’t possible then an exception may be made. I think they would make fantastic companions for an elderly person or elderly couple with a lot of affection to give to loving lap cats. However, any individual or family (even with kids) with a lot of love and attention to give would also be a good fit. They aren’t high maintenance – they hang out around the house alone all the time and always behave – but they just love laps, petting, cuddles, and people in general.
They come with two litter boxes, two pictured litter mats, a metal litter scoop, and any leftover food.

Thank you! Email amandabutler11@gmail.com

-THIS IS DOG IS NOT BEING HOMED THROUGH THE PIXIE PROJECT. THIS IS COURTESY DOG POSTING; PLEASE CONTACT JAMES AT THE NUMBER BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION-
Hi!  I’m Violet!  I’m a brown/brindled Boston Terrier who loves to meet new people.  I’m up for pretty much anything, from cuddling under blankets and binge-watching Battlestar Galactica to trekking 15 miles up Mt. Hood on a hike.  My favorite thing besides cuddling on the couch is playing fetch.  You won’t BELIEVE how well I can jump!  If you’ve got a fenced yard and a tennis ball, we’ll get along perfectly.
What else am I good at?  Sitting, staying, shaking, swimming, SUNBATHING, walking loose-leashed all over my hood, sleeping in, going on long car rides and all kinds of other good-dog deeds.  I also don’t shred things, make a mess or get upset when I’m alone in the house.
What am I working on?  I’m taking medication and working with a behaviorist for anxiety and to help me learn to get along with other dogs.  I’m also not very good at sharing bones.  I’ll be my best and most happy in a home without other animals and without small children.  I really love kiddos, but I just get too excited and I could knock them over.  All I really want is to be someone’s companion/cuddle buddy.  If you have a quiet house, a blanket on the couch, and a good place for walking and fetch, then I’m you girl.  Contact James at  (785) 727-0705 for more information!
