The Pixie Project is a non-profit animal adoption center and rescue located in the heart of Portland, Oregon.

At Pixie, we make animal adoption and rescue a fun, family friendly, and positive experience. Our dedicated staff focuses on finding life-long matches between pet and adopter and takes a hands-on, personal approach to each and every adoption.

Pixie is committed to keeping pets healthy, happy, and in their homes for life. Our on-site clinic offers low-income and homeless pet owners access to vital veterinary care and low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, keeping pets out of shelters and saving lives.

Our philosophy at Pixie is simple and unique: find the perfect pet for each person or family. At Pixie we’re not about getting animals out the door, we’re about getting pets into lifetime homes. Sometimes the “right” pet is waiting for you, and other times you may have to search for a while before your canine or feline soul-mate arrives. We promise, it will be worth the wait!

Max is an affectionate and mellow 14-year-old male who is looking for a new home due to his former owners move to an assisted living facility.  On a rainy day, Max loves snuggle up comfortably in your lap, a sofa back or in his bed where he can watch the world go by. On a sunny day he loves to stretch out and soak in the rays, or stealthy hunt yard mice to keeps those unwanted visitors away!

Max grew up in a home with a large dog and another cat, but tends to enjoy his owner’s company over the other pets.  He is really fond of people and loves to meet and greet visitors.  He eats and drinks well and has good litter box habits.  He’s primarily an indoor cat but will let his owners know when he wants out to explore a bit.

If you can offer Max a new loving and safe home or would like some more information, please contact Kevin Paff at or via text/calls at 360-601-0136.

Hi there — I’m Luna! I am a strikingly gorgeous American Shorthair mix with spots like a leopard and stripes like a tiger! I’m about 5 years old and am a very lively young lady with a lot of energy and personality to go around. I have a really silly sounding meow which you’ll hear if you walk up to my cage — I’m saying, “Hello! Please pet me!” I’m extremely affectionate and really crave human attention. Just look at me, I’m cute as a button! I have lived peacefully around other cats in the past but after going through transition and being at the shelter, I’m not a huge fan and would probably need slow introductions to any new potential kitty family members. I’m currently living at the Petco on SE 122nd & Division, so come say hello and fill out an application if you’re interested in taking me home! I just know we’d be best friends. I come to you spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped for an adoption fee of $100.

Tuesday is a very loved, sweet and spicy 9-year-old male domestic shorthair. He has beautiful green eyes and a luxurious silky black coat. This handsome guy craves attention and enjoys cuddles and pets, on his own terms. Tues likes to observe and be close to the action, and he responds to his name (and a few nicknames). He tends to enjoy lounging around and is not very vocal. He has lived indoors with the same human since he was a kitten and has lived with a rambunctious young dog for the last four years. It seems Tuesday has gotten too stressed in his older age in this living environment and began urinating outside the litter box. Tuesday is seeking a lower stress home and a compassionate human willing to help him readjust to his new life. Tuesday’s current human is heartbroken to have to find him a new home, and wants to find a truly special person to take him as their own.

Howdy,  Cowgirl Cinnamon here, but you can call me CC. I rode in side saddle from Texas. I hear there are some mighty dawg-loving folks in these parts, and I am hoping to find me some! I am a true southern girl:  all how-de-do and charm, with just a touch of the sass. I’m staying with some downright hospitable folks, and they say I am just the sweetest thang they have ever seen. I could just swoon hearing such flattery, but I dare say it’s true! I tip the scale at 6 pounds and am really just a babe…less than a year old! Though I am bunked with a mellow pup right now, I do declare that I want all the attention and focus to be solely on me! Being a cowgirl in the city, I would prefer a quieter mellow owned home with no cats or kids.  I am partial to a good squeaky toy and I like a  little jaunt on foot! Though I can be a tad shy at first,  I’ve got a little of the mischief and playfulness in me, but heck, what kind of cowgirl my age don’t? So fill out an application today. I cannot wait to make your acquaintance so’s we can ride off into the sunset together! I come to you spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped with an adoption fee of $300.

Ruby is a very loving and affectionate senior male, 13 years old, half Maine coon and half tabby. He is good with small dogs and other kitties. He loves naps, cuddle time, and splashing in and drinking water from the sink. He is very vocal and affectionate, and will come when called. He does have a mild hyperthyroid condition which is being monitored. At this point he seems to do best on medication to balance his thyroid levels, so please keep that in mind. The cost of his monthly medication is minimal, and otherwise he has no health conditions at this point.

If you can offer Ruby a loving and safe forever home or would like more information about Ruby, please contact Carolyn at or 503-453-0209.

I am Kona — the big Kahuna! I’m a chubby and handsome 7-year-old boy with lots of belly to rub and purrs to give! I’m super friendly and social and still a very playful cat with a knack for lap time. I could use as much play as you’ll give me, since I’m a little bit large! Although my chubbiness adds to my charm, I could definitely stand to lose a pound or two. Besides that, I have a clean bill of health and have a history of living peacefully around other cats. I’ve been non-reactive to dogs here at the shelter and would probably make a great friend for anyone — people and pets alike! I lost my lifelong home when my former owner had to make sudden life changes due to some hardships. I know I was really well-loved since I am extremely fond of people and can’t wait to find my new future home. Are you interested in meeting me? Come by Pixie today! I come to you fixed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped for an adoption fee of $100.

Hello! My name is Dexter and I am a handsome 8-month-old Dutch Shepherd mix weighing in around 35lbs. Why the name you ask? Well, it’s because I am really smart and like to observe & study things, just like a poindexter! Ha! Being a young guy, not only is my mind active, but my body as well and I would love to join you on your next hiking adventure away from all the hustle & bustle of the big city. All the traffic and noise is pretty overwhelming for me and I would need to be in a rural quiet low traffic area in an owned home.  But I am still young and learning and with some basics, I could eventually learn to love the city. PUPPY CLASSES ARE MANDATORY FOR MY ADOPTION! I enjoy my new doggy friends in playgroup, but are a little too interested in those kitties, so none in my home, please. Though I can be a little shy at first, I am happy to meet my human friends over 14 and you can instantly see how fun and playful I can be! And those good looks?! Well whoever said you can’t be smart AND handsome. I am the best of both worlds! So fill out an application today and we can meet! I come to you neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped with an adoption fee of $300.

Hi everyone! My name is Owen and I am a cute 6 month old Chesapeake/Pit mix weighing it at 38lbs. Not only do I have a handsome face like my actor counterpart (Owen Wilson), but I have a wonderful humor-filled personality ready to make you smile at any minute with my puppy charm! I’m very smart and already know a few of the basics like “sit”. PUPPY CLASSES ARE MANDATORY FOR MY ADOPTION! I am an active guy,  ready to jump and play and go on some hikes, exploring the Gorge! I absolutely love playing with my puppy pals, and also some toy and cuddle time with my human friends over the age of 10. Due to certain breed rental restrictions, my future adopters need to own their home. Ready to show me the world? Fill out an application, so we can meet! I come to you neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped with an adoption fee of $300.
