– $10,000 Grant Will Enhance Pixie’s Veterinary Assistance Program –
BCT Logo Vertical for webPortland, OR (June 26, 2015) – The Pixie Project announced today that they received a $10,000 grant from the Banfield Charitable Trust. The funds from this grant will be used to enhance the Pixie Project’s Veterinary Assistance Program.

In addition to their work as an animal rescue and adoption center, the Pixie Project provides affordable veterinary services to Portland’s low-income and homeless residents at the Scott Wainner Pixie Care Clinic. This grant will help to ensure that the Pixie Project can continue to provide these services to those who need them most. Grant funding will help to cover to cost of veterinarians and veterinary technicians, the cost of surgical supplies, and medications.

This is the second year that Pixie has been awarded a grant from the Banfield Charitable Trust. In 2014, the Pixie Project was awarded a $7,500 grant from the Trust for veterinary services, allowing Pixie to treat a wide variety of pets for low-income clients, including mass removals, amputations, dental cleanings and extractions, and other surgeries. This year’s grant will allow Pixie to continue to expand the number of pets that we can assist in our clinic.

“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of the Banfield Charitable Trust. Last year we were able to do amazing work with the Trust’s help, and we know this year’s grant will make an even bigger impact in the lives of Portland pets,” says Amy Sacks, the Pixie Project’s Executive Director. “At Pixie, we want to do everything we can to keep animals in their homes with their dedicated owners. By performing these surgeries, we’re helping people keep their pets with them rather than surrendering them to an over-crowded shelter.”

The Pixie Project offers support for local over-crowded under-funded county shelters by bringing animals into Pixie’s family friendly adoption center and matching them with forever families. Pixie also offers low-cost veterinary services including spay and neuter surgeries for the pets of Portland homeless and low-income residents.
